8:00am: Up bright and early and trying to take in the day slowly so I am not going nuts later!
9:00am: Get my four-year-old son Sumehr ready to spend the day with his grandparents and he says “good luck for your show Mama!”
10:00am: Almost ready and feeling oddly calm… have nothing to really do and gone through my check list:
o Clothes – done
o Accessories – done
o Guest List – done
o Press Kits – done
11:00am: Spoke too soon.. the craziness is here!! There is front row management insanity.. someone cannot make it, someone wants ten extra passes.. breathe in breathe out.
12:00pm: I finally leave for the venue to give the collection to the backstage manager for steaming and prepping for the show.
1:00pm: At the venue, unloaded and unpacked and then there is backstage chaos galore... there are too many of us backstage so I leave to chill in the lounge
1:15pm: Called to check on my dear friend Shibani Dandekar to see if the outfit she is wearing for my show is okay. She is frantic because her driver has taken her clothes to steam and is MIA.
2:30pm: Chilling at the Lakme Lounge with my BFFs Shibani Dandekar and Verve Fashion Director Nisha Jhangiani both dressed in my new collection and looking fab. Nisha and my mom are drinking wine in the middle of the day while I sip water to stay calm and hydrated. Shibs thinks something is wrong as I seem alarmingly calm!
3:00pm: Waiting for the lovely Lisa Hayden to arrive who is walking for me this evening wearing the finale garment. Have to take her backstage to ace make-up artist Kapil Bhalla for hair and make-up.
3:15pm: Lisa is here but we cannot find her!!
3:20pm: Lisa is already backstage with Kapil giving him instructions about her make-up! I am so not needed in my own show ☺ I love that everyone is helping me chill and enjoy the day.
4:00pm: Everyone ready with hair and make-up and going to do a walk through with Anu Ahuja. We are so late!! The show is supposed to start at 4:30pm and we are still doing rehearsals.
4:50pm: Finally the show starts. Cool as cucumbers Lisa and me are hanging in the celebrity green room discussing shortage of tailors in Bombay.
5:10pm: Jatin Varma’s show is getting over, crazy pinning and checking all the girls before they head to the ramp!
5:20pm: Oh no! It’s my turn to go out and take a bow.. my least favorite thing to do. It still makes me nervous after so many seasons!!
5:45pm: We head to the press conference for a few bytes.
6:15pm: I meet friends and family who came for the show. All of them are loving the collection but making fun of my dismal walk on the ramp as usual.
7:00pm: Finish setting up my stall at The Source and now heading home with my husband and Nisha.. My feet are killing me for being in heels for seven hours.
8:00pm: Loving all the warm messages and tweets from everyone! It has been a crazy long hectic day but wouldn’t change a thing about it!!
