2008: MERMAIDS WHO GUARD THE GATES OF ATLANTIS

This year we needed to show something new, something contemporary and yet something mentored by Nature! Owing to my immense love for resort destinations, the seascapes and the seas life, I decided to seek inspiration from the coral reef! Shortly we named the collection “Mermaids Who Guard The Gates Of Atlantis”. It sounded strong and it definitely attracted a lot of attention from several new stores and buyers, clients and so on. It was colourful (obviously), it was contemporary in terms of shapes and motifs and it had fluidity owing to our usage of fabrics like chiffons and tulle. You know something? We literally collected bits of starfish, corals and shells to be used as embroidery embellishments!! As you might have guessed, the palette was soft corals, aquas, mints, ivory and beiges. It was a fun collection to work on and definitely garnished orders over and over again for several years!!
