— RAJDEEP RANAWAT
We entered the global market with a delightful bang the previous year with our coral reef-inspired collection named “Mermaids Who Guard The Gates Of Atlantis”. It was fresh, vivid, different and artistic!!! All the Nature-inspired attributes that define our love for art, flora and fauna, moreover our brand! Now we needed to show maturity and an influence of our travels through the streets of Europe, wandering for inspiration, searching for elements that surprised us and to find high fashion even in the remotest villages during the winters… we finally settled with the new Autumn Winter range titled ‘Potpourri’ which was another breath of fresh air on the ramp of WIFW!
The colours were dark yet jewelled! We used imported fabrics, geometric and intricate tessellation's with sequins and beads, creating patterns and embroideries with dancing lady flowers and shrivelled petals of winter lilies, prints with butterfly wings.. and used chain links for borders. In terms of embroideries we used bugles or prints with Swarovski highlights… the silhouettes were fluid with kaftans, ponchos, sequinned sheaths, beaded turkish pants, velvet bow-tie chiffon shirts, European butler styled jackets and much more… it was so much fun designing and creating all this… it was a test for me… to do something different each season, yet keeping the commercial viability in mind… it was a success! And we enjoyed drenching all our faithful clients for sure…!
